:: ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT
Although Fort Scott draws much of its cultural life from history, the Bourbon County Arts Council, among other organizations, cultivates an appreciation of the arts in adults and school children, as well.
Music
- Fort Scott Civic Symphony presents three concerts a year by volunteer musicians ranging from age 13 to 78 representing a variety of professions and sharing a love of performing music.
- The Young People's Annual Concert features junior and senior high school students in the county who participate in the state music competition.
- The Community Chorus, a volunteer group, performs 2 concerts annually as well as performances for various community activities and organizations, with a variety of music from classical to popular to religious.
- The Friday Night Concert Series includes outdoor concerts weekly during the summer months in downtown Heritage Park.
- The Liberty Theatre, downtown Fort Scott, hosts various music concerts throughout the year ranging from jazz to blues to rock and roll. Check their calendar to find out who's playing next!
Theatre
- Children's Theatre Annual Production interprets a children's classic performed by young students.
Art
- The Bourbon County Arts Council Annual Art Competition is open to artists in the four-state area in photography, fibre art, painting, ceramics, prints, jewelry and sculpture.
