Departing from Old Fort Genealogical Library (Memorial Hall, 221 S. National Ave.)
$5 per person. Limited to first 40 people to register - pre-registration required.
Masks required & social distancing to be maintained.

Stops:
#1 Barnesville Cemetery where flags will be flying at Civil War Veterans headstones ~ Brian Allen will tell historian Fred Campbell's stories of Barnesville, the Miracle Mile, the Stone & the home built from wood of he local store.
#2 Reed Hartford will stop 1 mile east of Fulton on Xavier Road to tell the story of the Battle of Little Osage before driving to the large whirlpool with more local history.
#3 Stop at the site of Fort Lincoln & the whirlpool where the story of Fort Lincoln will be told. We will then stop at the old site of Freedom Colony where one of the members designed planes prior to the Wright Brothers.
#4 Mapleton will be the site of the story of the mean old woman & why the name of Mapleton was changed, Guthrie's Mound will be pointed out where Zeb Pike slept while traveling west & the story of an infamous hanging.
#5 The final stop will be in the west portion of Fort Scott National Cemetery where Brian Allen will present the Civil War, Indian and US Veterans of the 19th Century who are buried there. Tour will end with Eugene Ware and his story, with a finale by Ralph Carlson and Arnold Schofield.
