DESCRIPTION:On Friday evening\, August 17th\, The Christian Strings will perform at the Heritage Park Pavilion at First and Main Street. This is part of the Friday night concert in the park series sponsored by the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce. The performance will begin at 7:00 PM. The group consists of dulcimers\, guitars\, a fiddle\, and an autoharp.\n\n\n\nThe group\, lead by Regina Broyles\, has played together for approximately 10 years. The featured instruments in the group are mountain dulcimers. The origins of the dulcimer date back hundreds of years to the Appalachian Mountains. The instrument is a simple one and used to play folk music by ear.\n\n\n\nThe Christian Strings play gospel songs\, oldies\, and folk tunes. The ladies in the group represent several different churches and different towns\, including Blue Mound\, Mound City\, Pleasanton\, and Fort Scott. The ladies play for churches\, nursing homes\, community functions\, and assisted care facilities. They enjoy entertaining individuals who like folk and gospel music. \n\n\n\nThe concert is free to the public. Because of limited seating\, you are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. In the event of rain\, the concert will be held at the Carriage House at 3rd & Main.
