Patients also have access to Freeman's broader network of specialists\, including oncology\, cardiology\, and orthopedics.\n\n\n\nDuring the first three months of operation\, 700 people utilized the ED\; currently\, that number has reached 3\,310 patients. In fact\, the very first patient who walked into the ED the day the hospital opened was suffering a heart attack\; he was promptly diagnosed and treated.\n\n\n\nFreeman's fourth hospital serves as a significant step forward for the System's continued mission to expand access to high-quality\, compassionate healthcare in Southeast Kansas.
