DESCRIPTION:Labors and Leisure on the Frontier\n\nLabor Day Weekend at Fort Scott\n\nFORT SCOTT\, Kan.   Saturday\, August 30\, Fort Scott National Historic Site will take you on an\n\nexploration of the labors and leisure on an 1840s frontier post. Throughout Saturday\, enjoy historic\n\nyard games\, a variety of living history demonstrations\, and interpretive programs as you explore the\n\nlabors and leisure on the fort.\n\nVisit with an officer's wife doing needlepoint\, a laundress making soap and doing laundry\, a cooking\n\ndemonstration\, a contracted teamster discussing the best way to assemble his freight wagon and\n\nlearn about caring for your horse from a Dragoon soldier. Guided Fort Tours will be offered daily at\n\n10 a.m. and 1 p.m. All programs are free and open to the public.\n\nFort Scott National Historic Site's\, a unit of the National Park Service\, exhibit areas and visitor center\n\nare open Friday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m.   4:30 p.m. The park grounds are open daily from\n\na half hour before sunrise until a half hour after sunset.
