DESCRIPTION:Meet local authors Cathy Werling and Pastor James Collins\, play trivia for prizes\, make crafts\, decorate cookies\, attend a creative writing workshop for young people\, play tabletop games\, hear stories\, join the Queen of Hearts and Alice for a Mad Hatter Tea Party\, flaunt a costume\, and more. \n\n\n\nBio: Cathy Werling is a retired elementary educator living in Fort Scott\, Kansas.  Her passion for helping students develop positive character traits and seek out worthy role models led to her part time work at the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes.  Through her series of books about these humble heroes\, Cathy hopes to inspire children to truly be those people who make a positive difference in the lives of others.\n\n\n\nBio: James Collins currently serves as Senior Pastor at First Southern Baptist Church in historic Fort Scott\, Kansas. You can find more information on his books and ministry at www.thepointis.net. \n\n \n\nBriana Spurgeon\, AKA "The Cookie Momster"\n\n\nThe Cookie Momster makes and sells specialty cookies for all occasions. You may find photos of her work on her Facebook page. Join her in the library event room from 10   11 am to create a delicious cookie of your own and hear a story read by her.\n\n \nFSHS drama teacher\, Angela Bin and her daughter\, Emma\, will join us as the iconic Alice in Wonderland characters. They will lead activities related to the story.\n\n \n\nAlso appearing: Professor Harold Hicks will lead a creative writing workshop for kids from 1 - 2 pm in the event room. Susan Messer will lead a round of children's literature trivia at 10:30 and mystery trivia at 11\, Taylor Qualls will help with some activities\, Professor Allen Twitchell will wear a historic costume and may give a talk on creating a historic character\, Dominic Cannon and Jo Goodbody will lead a tabletop gaming session\, Ashley Cannon will host anime activities\, and Kaylee Cannon will oversee activities related to cartoons. \n\n\n\nThe library hopes more community members will sign up to help! Specifically needed are more people to lead rounds of trivia (we can come up with the questions\; volunteers would just need to read them and award prizes)\, oversee kids' activities\, and dress up in costumes to help make the event more interesting and fun. If enough attendees come in costume\, a costume contest will also be held\, with prizes awarded in several categories. Judges are also needed in order to offer the contest.
