Music isn’t just a hobby for Tim Nowell, it’s in his blood.
With roots in Cherokee, KS, Nowell was immersed in music from an early age by his musical family. Growing up, Nowell was accustomed to listening to his uncles and cousins play classic country and folk music around campfires on the weekends and learned his first two chords on the guitar from his cousin, Keith. In his mid-20s, Nowell decided to turn his musical aspirations into reality, leaving Pittsburg State University after two years, picking up the guitar in his mid-20s and blazing a path for himself. That guitar, a Fender that was bought by his mother, who raised him and continues to support his music, from a pawn shop.
Drawing influence from outlaws legends like Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings, the contemporary sounds of Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney and Kip Moore, and the neo-traditional/red dirt stylings of Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, and William Clark Green. Nowell released his debut, self-titled independent album in April of 2018. The album’s lead single, the standout “Tape in the Dashboard,” has since charted on the Bayou Country Music Association’s Top 40 chart, and has earned radio airplay in Kansas, Missouri, Arizona, and New Mexico. Each song on the album was written solely by Nowell, each stemming from life experiences, living vicariously through friends’ stories, and life lessons.
After beginning his live career in bars in 2015, Nowell has also solidified himself as a strong opening act for major artists, already having shared the stage with Luke Combs, Joe Nichols, Logan Mize, William Clark Green, Casey Donahew, Josh Abbott Band, Cody Canada, The Lacs, Bart Crow, and Keith Anderson.
Nowell is gaining recognition outwardly as well, winning the 2016 Tumbleweed Festival Talent Search, and was recently nominated for Pro Country’s Male Artist of the Year awards.
Nowell is currently touring throughout the Midwest and southern states in support of his album. Catch one of Nowell’s interactive, highly energetic shows when he travels to a town near you.
