Police Department

Duties
The police department is charged with:
Maintaining law and order
Protecting persons and property
Apprehending persons suspected of committing criminal acts
Directing and controlling traffic
Investigation and enforcing laws of the State of Kansas and city ordinances

Department Structure

Fort Scott maintains a modern, highly trained and well-equipped police department, with a current authorized strength of 20 sworn officers. The department is made up of three divisions:
Administration
Investigations
Patrol
