About Us

K-State Extension, Southwind District provides practical, research-based education and resources to help individuals, families, businesses and communities thrive. Serving Allen, Bourbon, Neosho and Woodson counties, the district has offices in Fort Scott, Iola, Erie and Yates Center.

Programs and services focus on agriculture and natural resources, family and consumer sciences, 4-H youth development and community vitality. Extension professionals offer educational programs, workshops, technical assistance and unbiased information on topics such as crop and livestock production, horticulture, health and nutrition, financial well-being, aging, food safety, leadership development and community improvement.

As part of Kansas State University, K-State Extension brings university knowledge directly to the people it serves—helping Kansans find practical solutions, make informed decisions and improve their quality of life.
