The Shiney Studios Meditation Class Beings 6pm
We are excited to announce that The Shiney Studios Fort Scott location is now offering a Meditation class~ We will start a 6 week into into Meditation and Basics on Feb. 26th. This class will be a 45 minute class running from 6:00pm-6:45pm. every Monday evening!! New students welcome~ Beginners welcome!! If you are a current student, bring a friend, this is a great way to introduce basics into meditation and mindful living!
Our instructor is Allison Dey. Originally from Kansas City, Allison Dey has lived all over the US and most recently Australia before settling down in Fort Scott to be near and care for her parents. She learned to meditate in the 1970s and since then found some of the most helpful guidance about contemplative practice in the writings of medieval and Renaissance Christian women.
Well studied in both Buddhist and Christian mediation methods, Allison teaches the mechanics and practice of meditation - how to actually meditate - and leads both Christian and Buddhist forms of meditation, with Christian methods focusing on spiritual communion with God and Buddhist forms focusing on how to concentrate and lead the mind to remain in that spiritual communion.
Allison was the founder and director of a small community center in Arizona for several years that provided yoga and meditation for both adults and children, as well as community events. She has studied meditation with pivotal teachers, including Father Laurance Freemen and the Dalai Lama.
Allison considers her main accomplishment to be raising two very nice children, now grown, and her slightly lesser achievement to be her many years of work in family health education. Now working part-time as a sewing and craft pattern designer for Australian magazines, she is happy to be settled in a town that feels like home.
