Ribbon-cutting Ceremony Set for Freeman Fort Scott Hospital, Inc.
What: Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Freeman Fort Scott Hospital, Inc.
When: 10:00 am Thursday, May 7, 2026
Where: 401 Woodland Hills Blvd., Fort Scott, Kansas
Background: Yes, it’s been open for business since September 2025, faithfully serving the healthcare needs of Fort Scott and Bourbon County residents, but the new Freeman Fort Scott Hospital, Inc. will receive a proper ribbon cutting next week.
Freeman officials, dignitaries, and the public will attend the ceremony, which celebrates the return of 24/7 emergency department services to the region.
The hospital consists of a six-bed emergency department and 10-bed acute care unit. Patients also have access to Freeman’s broader network of specialists, including oncology, cardiology, and orthopedics.
During the first three months of operation, 700 people utilized the ED; currently, that number has reached 3,310 patients. In fact, the very first patient who walked into the ED the day the hospital opened was suffering a heart attack; he was promptly diagnosed and treated.
Freeman’s fourth hospital serves as a significant step forward for the System’s continued mission to expand access to high-quality, compassionate healthcare in Southeast Kansas.
