My name is Sparky Schroeder
I am running for district 2 County Commissioner for Bourbon County.
My wife and I moved to Fort Scott in 2005. We moved here to take a job as Maintenance Manager for Smith and Chambers ( they cleaned up train derailments over 23 States). I was in charge of maintenance and repair for all of there trucks, trailers, heavy equipment and vehicles.
I started my own business when I was 23 yezrs buying my first truck (1978). Over the next ten years we had several trucks. In 1987 we bought a construction company. We did all kinds of work from hauling gravel, demolition work, land clearing, building dams and had township contacts.
In 2000 my wife started her own construction company doing under ground work (sewer and water installation).
In 2005 I was offered the job for Smith and Chamber's and we moved to Fort Scott. Jim sold the company to Progress Rail and three years later they closed the shop and moved.
After a stort while I started my own business again doing mobile mechanic work and later started trucking again(hauling rock and gravel) which I still do today.
In the years in South Dakota I was Fire Chief for a number of years for our local volunteer fire department. I was on the city council a couple different times. In 1996 I was President of the South Dakota chapter of LICA (Land Improvement Contractors Association).
I feel I can bring a lot to Bourbon County as Commissioner.
As Commissioner I would like to see more transparency and communication with the people in district 2.
I feel we need to be better steward's of the tax payers'money.
